RMA 130 Overview of Counting Room Operations

Personnel attending this course will receive an overview of instrumentation and procedures used by the Radiochemistry Laboratory to detect radiation activity in samples. Concepts discussed during this course of instruction will include general technologies used for each Radiochemistry Laboratory instrument group to detect and quantify alpha, beta, and gamma emitting radionuclides. Provide a general overview from acceptance of prepared sample media to analysis reporting. Identify and discuss relationships between methods, sample matrices, and the process of detection. Identify and discuss examples of special projects and considerations used to determine the basis for routine project action levels undertaken by the laboratory.
